Free Course > UNC Preparedness: Introduction to Assessment

This basic level course takes a little over an hour to complete.  It is provided free by the University of North Carolina Center for Public Health Preparedness, from a grant from DHS.  It is a few years old, but is still current as much as it is pertinent.  It is worth .1 CEU credit hrs, free of charge.-Read more

Target Audience

These learning modules are applicable to all public health, medical, veterinary, pharmacy, emergency management, hospital and other professionals interested in public health preparedness. These modules are created by faculty and guest lecturers at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health.

Educational Objectives

  • Name the 10 essential public health services and understand how assessment relates to them
  • Understand the purposes of community assessment
  • Be able to create an assessment profile of your community
  • Explain the concept of upstream thinking and give an example from your area of practice
